Police: Dolphins' Shelby arrested at Fla nightclub

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) Authorities say Miami Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby is free on bond after being arrested on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and trespassing at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub.

Fort Lauderdale Police spokeswoman DeAnna Greenlaw says the 25-year-old player was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday at Off the Hookah, after refusing to leave the establishment by security and police officers. Court records show he has since been released from jail on a $100 bond.

Attorney Daniel Rosenberg, representing Shelby, said by phone that his client maintains his innocence and plans to plead not guilty.

An undrafted pickup for the Dolphins in 2012, Shelby has appeared in all four Miami's games this season, recording six tackles, two sacks and recovering a fumble. The Dolphins had a bye Sunday and weren't in action.
