New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones is expected to miss up to a month with a hip injury, Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports.

Jones, 24, leads the Patriots with 4.5 sacks this season and also has a fumble recovery. His 11.5 sacks last season also led the team. He has 22.0 sacks during his three-year career since being a first-round pick out of Syracuse in the 2012 draft.

The Patriots acquired linebacker Akeem Ayers and a seventh-round draft pick from the Tennessee Titans for a sixth-round pick on Tuesday. Starting linebacker Jerod Mayo was lost for the season earlier this month after tearing his right patellar tendon against the Buffalo Bills.
