49ers' Patrick Willis placed on injured reserve with toe injury
The 49ers have placed linebacker Patrick Willis on injured reserve with a toe injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Willis was injured in San Francisco's game against the St. Louis Rams in Week 6 and has not played since.
Rookie Chris Borland has replaced Willis at inside linebacker and averaged 11 tackles per game in his three starts.

The 49ers will have outside linebacker Aldon Smith available for Sunday's game against the Giants, CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports.
Willis was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his seven seasons in the league. He has never played in fewer than 13 games in a season.
