Report: Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey likely out 10 games with broken fibula
Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey will likely miss at least the first 10 games of the season with a broken fibula, according to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
The Steelers' official website reports the two-time All-Pro lineman is “on a path” to be placed on the injured reserve list with designation to return. The injury will keep him out for “at least half” of the season. Pouncey suffered the injury while blocking upfield in last week's preseason game against the Packers, when Green Bay safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix fell into his leg while making a tackle.
Kaboly reports that Pouncey will most likely to return after Pittsburgh's Week 11 bye, which leaves the Steelers without the anchor of their offensive line for the first 10 games and potentially beyond.
• Report: Steelers WR Bryant suspended four games
If Pouncey is placed on injured reserve and designated for return, the earliest he could be activated is Week 7.
Cody Wallace, who made two starts for the Steelers last season, is listed behind Pouncey on the depth chart.
