Dallas Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel will take over starting duties from Brandon Weeden against the New York Giants in Week 7, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

The Cowboys will be looking for some “positive energy” from Cassel, Werder reports.

Weeden has completed 70.3% of his passes in three starts since taking over for an injured Tony Romo, totaling 666 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions.

The Cowboys are 0–3 with Weeden under center.

The Cowboys acquired Cassel from the Buffal Bills on Sept. 22 in exchange for a 2017 fifth-round pick.

Cassel was a seventh-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2005. He joined the Chiefs in 2009, and played the last two seasons in Minnesota.

The former-USC Trojan started three games in 2014 and accumulated a passer rating of 65.8.
