The Houston Texans and quarterback Brock Osweiler reportedly agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal on Wednesday, making Osweiler one of the highest-paid quarterbacks of 2016.

Following the announcement of Peyton Manning’s retirement, Osweiler had the opportunity to become the Denver Broncos’ full-time starter. However, Osweiler turned down a reported three-year, $45 million deal with Denver to instead join the Texans.

“Coming to Houston was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up,” Osweiler told ESPN. “What I see with this football team is something special. I believe this organization is on the cusp of doing something great.”

Osweiler went on to say that his decision to leave the Broncos was not an easy one.

“It was very difficult. I’d be lying to you if I said anything else. I had a tremendous four seasons there in Denver, and you know those are four years that I’ll always hold very close to my heart.”

Osweiler threw for 1,967 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions over the course of eight games this past season, seven of which he started.
