The New England Patriots have won four Super Bowls since the turn of the millennium, the most in the NFL in that time span.

Former Patriots cornerback Ty Law thinks the team could have won even more.

Law told ESPN that Patriots coach Bill Belichick has jettisoned too many veterans during his tenure, costing the team playoff games they could have won with more leadership.

“I think it has cost them championships. I think they let go of too many guys who can rally the troops and win Super Bowls,” Law said.

KING: The math behind the Pats’ surprising trade

Law himself was an integral member of three Patriots Super Bowl teams. He spent five more seasons in the league after his release from New England. Other Patriots stars who were traded or released from the team and caught on elsewhere include Richard Seymour, Deion Branch, Willie McGinest and Mike Vrabel.

Earlier this week, the Patriots traded defensive end Chandler Jones to the Cardinals.
