The Jets and free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick are still “not close” on a new contract, reports Chris Carlin of SNY and SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio.

Recent reports, including one from ESPN’s Rich Cimini, have put the Jets’ offer in the range of $7 to $8 million per year. Free agent Brock Osweiler signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Texans earlier in the offseason.

Fitzpatrick started all 16 games for the Jets after being traded from the Texans in March. He led New York to a 10–6 record, a major improvement from the team’s 4–12 record in 2014. He completed 59.6% of his passes for 3,905 yards, 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
