Despite temporarily retiring, Anthony Davis has decided to file his reinstatement letter and hopes for a comeback to the NFL and San Francisco 49ers next season.
“My Official Reinstatement Letter to the @NFL and @49ers has been sent!” Davis wrote on Twitter.
Davis, 26, could take over for Erik Pears at right tackle in San Francisco, where he started all 71 of his career games. He elected to sit out the 2015 season after concerns over recent concussions.

The 49ers have control of Davis’s contract rights after his decision to retire following the 2014 season. His contract reportedly has five years and $30 million remaining on it through 2020. The 49ers will need to clear a spot for him on the roster.
San Francisco will open the season on Sept. 12 against the Los Angeles Rams.
