Bills DT Marcell Dareus entering rehab
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will enter rehab, the team announced Saturday.
Dareus was issued a four-game suspension last week for his second violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The 26-year-old told reporters that the suspension was the result of a missed drug test.
“After careful consideration of recent events within my life, I have made the decision to enter a rehabilitation facility,” Dareus said. “I feel this is the best decision for me, my family and my teammates as I move forward with my career. I appreciate the support of my teammates and the Bills organization through this process.”
In a statement, general manager Doug Whaley said that Dareus has the support of the organization.
“Marcell is family and we are fully supporting him in this stage of his life,” Whaley said.
A two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro in 2014, Dareus was suspended for the first game of the 2015 season after a substance abuse violation.
