Report: Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott could face ‘lengthy’ suspension
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott “could face a lengthy suspension” as the result of an NFL investigation into allegations of domestic violence, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports.
Elliott’s former girlfriend filed a police report in July alleging that Elliott assaulted her in a car. Elliott denied the allegations and authorities declined to bring charges.
The NFL is still investigating the case, however, and Elliott was recently interviewed by league investigators, USA Today reported. La Canfora reports that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones approached NFL domestic violence advisor Lisa Friel at a league meeting but “Friel did not respond to Jones during the interaction.”
Elliott, the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft, is averaging an NFL-best 117.2 yards per game this season and entered Week 8 leading the league in rushing yards.
