Bears WR Alshon Jeffery suspended for performance-enhancing drug violation
Alshon Jeffery is the Bears' leading receiver and will miss four games.
Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, the team announced Monday.
Jeffery will miss games against the Giants, Titans, 49ers and Lions. He will be eligible to return for Chicago’s game against the Packers on Dec. 18.
Jeffery was hampered by injuries last season and only appeared in nine games. He has a team-high 630 yards on 40 catches in nine games this season, but only one touchdown.
The suspension is more bad news for a Bears team that is already 2–7 on the season. It also doesn’t bode well for Jeffery’s fantasy owners. In that regard, Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal could see increased production in Jeffery’s absence.
