Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been fined $12,154 for verbally abusing an on-field official after Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh, USA Todayreports.
Beckham’s fine was unrelated to his postgame critique of officiating following the loss to the Steelers, in which he lashed out to reporters about referee Terry McAuley and his crew, suggesting they shouldn’t work Giants games in the future.
Beckham had 10 catches for 100 yards in that game, but on several occasions asked for flags on incomplete passes in his direction. The refs called four penalties for 24 yards against the Giants, and 12 for 115 yards against the Steelers.
This is Beckham’s fifth known fine of the season, but the first directly involving an official.
