Chargers RB Melvin Gordon carted off with hip injury
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon’s breakout season hit a snag on Sunday.
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon left Sunday’s game against the Panthers in the first quarter after injuring his hip. The team initially said he was questionable to return but later ruled him out for the day.
Gordon was injured while attempting to recover a Phillip Rivers fumble.
After failing to score a touchdown as a rookie last year, Gordon is enjoying a breakout season for San Diego. He entered Sunday’s game with 251 carries for 992 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 41 catches for 419 yards and two scores.
Kenneth Farrow, a rookie out of Houston, took Gordon’s place in the backfield.
