With a crucial road loss in Week 18, the Jacksonville Jaguars watched their playoff hopes go up in smoke on Sunday, setting the club up for an all-time one-liner during the postgame interviews.
The savage quote came courtesy of Tennessee Titans cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, who logged eight tackles, an interception and a pass deflection to help his team play spoiler in a 28–20 home win.
As he reflected on the season-ending victory, Murphy-Bunting was asked if he took extra satisfaction in keeping a division rival out of the postseason, prompting him to offer a blunt answer perfectly summing up the moment.
“You wanna know the truth? Absolutely. They gotta meet me in Cancun,” Murphy-Bunting said. “I mean, it’s payback, I guess that’s what you call it, right? They got us out last year so it was only right we return the favor.”
