The New York Jets may have been strung for cap space since free agency but that may not be the case anymore.

New York and defensive captain C.J. Mosley have agreed to a two-year contract restructure worth over $17.25 million with a little over $13 million guaranteed. His $9 million guaranteed for the 2024 season saves up over $12 million in salary cap space.

Field Yates of ESPN was first on the contract restructure.

New York has been active in free agency with the signings of guard John Simpson, quarterback Tyrod Taylor, and Javon Kinlaw. They also traded for starting right tackle Morgan Moses on Wednesday from the Baltimore Ravens. After the moves, the Jets had roughly around $12 million to spend on a running back, wide receiver, and safety.

With Mosley's new cap savings, those moves should be able to come without much of a concern.

All eyes on the Jets will turn to the wide receiver position. Free agent players like Mike Williams, Tyler Boyd, and Odell Beckham Jr., have had previous ties to the organizations in some way. With the per year annual value seemingly lowering with the next wave of free agency about to hit, Gang Green could come away with a solid starting caliber wideout for half the price the top players were going for.

And a big reason for that is their defensive captain is seeing some money moved over the next two years.
