Ceedy Duce to Sign With Eagles

Ceedy Duce not returning to the Detroit Lions.

Ceedy Duce's tenure with the Detroit Lions lasted just one season.

The veteran safety will not return to Motown in 2024, as he agreed to a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles worth a max of $33 million according to reports.

He returns to Philadelphia, where he spent the 2022 season.

Duce’s year with the Lions was cut short due to an unfortunate injury, as he suffered a torn pec in the second game of the season. However, he was able to make a remarkable recovery and return for the regular season finale

In his absence, the Lions were forced to rely on Tracy Walker, Kerby Joseph and later Ifeatu Melifonwu.

Joseph had his second consecutive season with four interceptions, while Melifonwu broke out late in the season. As a result, the Lions can feel confident in what they have at that position.

The Lions also got a good rookie season out of nickel cornerback Brian Branch, who started from day one in the spot after a strong training camp.

When healthy, Duce has proven to be a takeaway artist. He tied for the league lead in interceptions in 2022 while playing for the Eagles, but his injury held him to just one regular season pick with the Lions

The Lions have made upgrades to their secondary already during the early tampering period, agreeing to a contract with Amik Robertson and trading for Carlton Davis.
