INDIANAPOLIS —  The Tennessee Titans have already showed interest in Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt. They might like him even more after seeing his time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine on Sunday.

Alt — considered by many to be the top offensive tackle in this year's draft class — posted impressive times in his first two attempts in the 40-yard dash at the combine. He recorded a 5.07-second time in his first attempt. His second try was even faster, posting a 5.05-second time.

Reminder, Alt measures 6-foot-8 and 321 pounds. For a man of his size, Alt was moving down the field.

Several mock drafts have tabbed Alt as the No. 7 pick in the draft, landing with the Titans. That would be a great addition for Tennessee, which struggled at left tackle in 2023.

During his media availability at the combine on Saturday, Alt said he had a formal meeting with the Titans. He confirmed that those conversations went well.

Alt is an All-American talent and would likely be a Day 1 starter for the Titans. That's exactly what the franchise needs, after surrendering the fourth-most sacks (64) in the NFL during the 2023 season.

The 40-yard dash time doesn't necessarily determine a player's draft stock. But Alt showed that he's more than just a power blocker. Having that type of quickness would be a huge asset for any team, especially the Titans.

This year's offensive tackle class has a lot of depth. But Alt continues to make his case as the best of the bunch.

  • HOUSTON LINEMAN STATES HIS CASE: If the Tennessee Titans want the "best pass protector" in the 2024 NFL Draft class, Houston's Patrick Paul is making his case. The 6-foot-7, 315-pound tackle is projected as a second- or third-round pick, potentially giving the Titans more flexibility with their first-round selection. CLICK HERE
