INDIANAPOLIS — There's a new record holder in Indianapolis. On Saturday afternoon, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy set the record for the fastest 40-yard dash time recorded in the history of the NFL Scouting Combine.

Worthy posted a time of 4.21 seconds on Saturday. Washington wide receiver John Ross III previously set the record at 4.22 seconds in 2017.

Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson posted a top-five time in 2008, running the 40-yard dash in 4.24 seconds.

Below is the clip of Worthy setting the record at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

Worthy is ranked as the No. 66 overall prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft class, per Pro Football Focus. After recording that lightning-fast time at the combine on Saturday, his stock might be on the rise.

Worthy had a huge season at Texas in 2023. He finished the year with 1,014 yards and five touchdowns on 75 catches. The Longhorns finished the season with a 12-2 record, reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time.

Over the course of his three seasons in Austin, Worthy hauled in 197 receptions for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns.

The Titans are in need of adding speed and playmaking ability at the wide receiver position. There's still over a month until the 2024 NFL Draft, but Worthy might be worth some serious consideration for Tennessee based on his time in the 40-yard dash.

At the very least, it gives general manager Ran Carthon and coach Brian Callahan something to think about.
