Tennessee Titans Defensive Player Grades & Takeaways From Week 6 Loss to Baltimore Ravens

The Tennessee Titans may have lost 24-13 against the Baltimore Ravens, but the defense did put up a good fight against a talented Ravens' offensive attack. Here are some of the best and worst from the Titans' Week 6 players grades on defense.

The Tennessee Titans gave up 24 points to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, but were able to force a turnover and hold the Ravens to six field goals and one touchdown despite being asked to be on the field constantly due to an underperforming offense.

It wasn't the worst performance we have seen from this defense this year and we see that in the defensive player grades from Pro Football Focus. Let's take a look at the top five overall grades and grades that stood out on the defensive side of the ball.

Top Five Overall Grades

LB Jack Gibbens - 87.0 Overall Grade

OLB Trevis Gipson - 79.0 Overall Grade

LB Azeez Al-Shaair - 78.4 Overall Grade

CB Tre Avery - 76.2 Overall Grade

DT Kyle Peko - 68.7 Overall Grade

The Titans' two starting linebackers in Jack Gibbens and Azeez Al-Shaair both had bounce-back performances after not playing well in Week 5. The effort came in a loss, but Gibbens was particularly effective.

Avery and Gipson are the most interesting here. Avery played 18 snaps and allowed one catch for four yards in relief for Kristian Fulton. Avery may see more playing time going forward considering Fulton's struggles.

Gipson only got six snaps and got two pressures. He continues to standout when he is on the field, but continues to get limited snaps each week. Head coach Mike Vrabel said recently Gipson will "play more," but we didn't see that this week.

Standout Grades

OLB Harold Landry - 42.5 Overall Grade

DL Denico Autry  - 41.9 Overall Grade

OLB Rashad Weaver - 37.3 Overall Grade

Gipson may have to play more simply because the players above him on the depth chart are not getting it done. Landry returned from an ACL tear in 2022 and has not been himself to start the year. That may be expected, but it is still an issue for the team nonetheless. All three edge players were the lowest-graded of 20 defensive players who got a snap in the game.

Autry has been relatively good this season, but in run defense he has struggled as an edge. Autry has been much more effective in pass rush as an interior player. Weaver has simply not risen to the challenge in year three and may lose snaps to Gipson soon.
