Tennessee Titans Snap Counts & Takeaways from Week 5 Loss to Indianapolis Colts

The Tennessee Titans took another road loss in Week 5 to the Indianapolis Colts and here is how the snap counts shook out on both sides of the ball for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans lost a tough battle to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. While it was a frustrating loss, there were still some interesting things to take away from the snap counts on both sides of the ball.

For the first time this year, DeAndre Hopkins led all wide receivers in snaps. It makes sense that would also coincide with Hopkins' best statistical performance as a Titan, catching eight passes for 140 yards. Hopkins looked uncoverable.

Also at wide receiver, worth noting Kyle Philips took 13 snaps in his 2023 debut. Philips, on the flipside from Hopkins, didn't register a single catch in his limited return. The Titans will likely look to ramp Philips up more as the season progresses, but with his current slot-only role, don't expect a severe increase unless the Titans are down big.

Two final points. Josh Whyle's snaps continue to increase after playing a season-high 18 snaps in Week 4 and the running back position continues to be a close split. Derrick Henry took 37 snaps while rookie Tyjae Spears took 31. Spears averaged 6.2 yards per touch on 11 chances and Henry averaged 3.8 yards per touch on 16 chances.

The Titans tried to replace the missing Teair Tart with three players in Kyle Peko, Naquan Jones and Jaleel Johnson. After giving up 193 rushing yards to the Colts, it is safe to say three still doesn't equal one.

Another note worth making here is the snap count of the Titans outside linebackers, Harold Landry and Arden Key. Neither had a great day against the run, but we saw Rashad Weaver and Trevis Gipson had issues in their opportunities as well. Gipson and Weaver continue to get more snaps though as the Titans surely try and get more rest for their starters during their early-season struggles.
