Gordie Howe is featured on the regional cover of Sports Illustrated in an issue memorializing his life and legendary hockey career.

Howe passed away last Friday at the age of 88. Over his 34-year hockey career, “Mr. Hockey” was named an All Star 23 times, won four Stanley Cup trophies with the Detroit Red Wings and six Hart trophies for being the league MVP. He still ranks second all-time in goals with 801 and fourth in points with 1,850.

The Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins are featured on the national cover after winning their first title in seven years.

Also featured in this issue is SI’s Lee Jenkins on the surprising game that saved the Warriors’ postseason.
