With nine losses in their last 12 games, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights currently hold the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and Tuesday begin a quick two-game road trip against teams immediately behind them in the standings, which include the Seattle Kraken for the first of two meetings over the next nine days. The Kraken have won seven of their last 11 games and sit eight points behind Vegas for the last wild card spot as they go for their second straight win against the Golden Knights.

Golden Knights winger Jonathan Marchessault leads the team with 35 goals this season, tied for seventh-best in the NHL after his hat trick against Detroit on Saturday. Marchessault, the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals MVP, has recorded 50 or more points in five of his seven seasons with Vegas.

Seattle ranks eighth in the NHL, allowing just 2.78 goals per game this season, led by goaltender Joey Daccord who ranks in the Top 10 in goals against average and save percentage.

Vegas leads the all-time series 8-2 and is 4-1 in Seattle. The lone Kraken win came on New Year’s Day when Seattle got its first-ever shutout against Vegas, winning 3-0.
