FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 14-APRIL 20

THE QUOTE
"Nothing's going to change, especially until I come back from the beach."—M.L Carr, who was headed for a seaside vacation amid weekend reports that he would be relieved of his duties as Celtics coach and G.M.

THE MOVE
In preparation for facing Orlando's Penny Hardaway in the first round, Heat coach Pat Riley experimented with Jamal Mashburn at point-forward, moving him to the perimeter and giving him more ball handling responsibilities. Mashburn responded with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a 102-92 win over Chicago on April 16.

THE STAT
Eight point guards led their teams in regular-season scoring: Terrell Brandon ( Cleveland), Tim Hardaway ( Miami), Penny Hardaway ( Orlando), Allen Iverson ( Philadelphia), Kevin Johnson ( Phoenix), Kenny Anderson ( Portland), Gary Payton ( Seattle) and Damon Stoudamire ( Toronto).

THE QUESTIONS
How healthy are Toni Kukoc and Dennis Rodman? Their late-season injuries have thrown the Bulls' dominance into question, as was evident in losses last week to Miami and New York. If either Kukoc or Rodman is not 100%, Chicago may be ripe for the picking.
