Track and Field
Elisdottir, a junior at Georgia, established an SEC record with a pole vault of 14'5�", the best in the U.S. this year. A member of Iceland's Olympic team in Sydney, she has won the four college meets in which she has competed this season.

Andy Simmons, WILLIAMSTON, MICH.
Wrestling
Andy, a junior at Williamston High who competes in the 135-pound weight class, hasn't lost a match in high school competition. His 157 wins include 123 pins. He and his brother Nick (FACES IN THE CROWD, March 13, 2000), a senior, have a combined record of 363-0 for the Hornets.

Monika Rothemich, NORTH ATTLEDORO, MASS.
Basketball
Rothemich, a senior forward at Holy Cross, set a Patriot League mark for consecutive field goals when she shot 10 for 10 in a 73-63 win over Lafayette. In a three-game span she made 22 consecutive field goal attempts and helped the Crusaders to an 11-1 record in their conference.

John Skudin, LONG BEACH, N.Y.
Swimming
Skudin, 43, who is both the women's and men's coach at St. John's, was named the Big East men's coach of the year after leading the Red Storm men to a 10-0 record, their first undefeated regular season. He also guided them to a school-best second-place finish at the conference championships.

Sanaz Shahbazi, SAN JOSE
Taekwondo
Shahbazi, 19, whose father was a member of the 1968 Iranian Olympic wrestling team, won the gold medal at the Pan American Championships in the middleweight (147-158 pounds) division. She finished 2000 as the top U.S. women's senior fighter in her weight category.

Cory Morin, WINDHAM, N.H.
Gymnastics
Cory, a senior at Salem High, led the Blue Devils—the only boys' team in the state—to an undefeated season against Massachusetts schools, maintaining his streak as the top all-around scorer at every meet since his sophomore year. He will compete for the U.S. Military Academy in the fall.
