Something in the Air
Parachutists descend on the Reliant Stadium field in Houston before the start of Super Bowl XXXVIII (page 42), while a member of Houston's SWAT team keeps a watchful eye—and scope—on the proceedings from on high.

Tee Party
Ricky Barnes has a lot of eyes on him at the FBR Open as he tees off on the 16th hole at the TPC of Scottsdale, which is surrounded by bleachers that hold 10,000 fans. Barnes finished eight strokes behind the winner, Jonathan Kaye (inset).

A Smashing Overhead
It was worth looking up, even as Roger Federer (bottom) was defeating Lleyton Hewitt in the fourth round of the Australian Open in Melbourne on Jan. 26. Federer went on to defeat Marat Safin in the finals on Sunday (page 64), and Justine Henin-Hardenne (inset) beat Kim Clijsters in the women's final the day before.
