In a testament to Andrew Luck's development, Stanford coaches let him call his own plays for several series in last Saturday's 45--19 win over UCLA. "His [calls] were a little better than mine," said coach David Shaw. The Heisman favorite showed he can do more than pass, too, making a one-handed sideline catch on a trick play... . Ohio State gets some help for its woeful offense (108th nationally) this week when receiver DeVier Posey, running back Dan Herron and tackle Mike Adams return from suspension, but until freshman QB Braxton Miller develops confidence, the Buckeyes will continue to struggle... . Poor play from QB Stephen Garcia doomed South Carolina again in a 16--13 loss to Auburn. It's mystifying that coach Steve Spurrier has no better option than a fifth-year senior who has been suspended five times.
