11.18 HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY
2011 RECAP With his fifth victory of the Chase, TONY STEWART set a playoff record for wins, staying out in front of second-place finisher Carl Edwards to take the checkered flag and the title.
TRACK FACT Active Cup victories leader Jeff Gordon (85) has won on 23 different tracks. The only venue at which he has started multiple times without a win is Homestead.
EYE ON 2012 The Cup wasn't clinched in '11 until the last lap here. Expect that to happen again this year as Jimmie Johnson narrowly beats Carl Edwards for the title.
WALTRIP "This is a three- or four-groove racetrack; you can go where they're not at Homestead. The racing's fun to watch. Last year you held your breath 'til the very end. This year's race has a lot to live up to."
11.4 TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
2011 RECAP TONY STEWART drew to within three points of standings leader and race runner-up Carl Edwards, winning by 1.092 seconds and leading 173 laps to Edwards's 14.
TRACK FACT In winning the Texas 500 last year, Stewart set a track speed record of 152.705 mph. That's 1.650 mph faster than the old standard, which Edwards set in '05.
EYE ON 2012 For Edwards to have a chance at the championship, he'll need to perform well at Texas, where he has three career wins.
