HOT: SHARPENED SPURS

San Antonio (22--9) has won 10 straight, leads the Southwest by 2½ and is well on its way to a 15th straight season over .500. The only snag: an oblique injury to Manu Ginobili, of whose return coach Gregg Popovich says, "I think it's going to be a while."

NOT: MILAN MALAISE

Inter Milan, winner of five of the last six Serie A titles, lost its third straight game last Friday, 3--0 to bottom-dweller Bologna, and fell to seventh on the table. Meanwhile, striker Luc Castaignos was banned three games for spitting in an opponent's face.

HOT: HEAT IS ON

It's a banner year for LeBron: His 54.8 FG% is a career-best; his 304 plus-minus is the highest in the NBA; and his 27.9 ppg are second only to Kobe. Oh, and Miami is destroying everybody, having led by at least 20 in each of its six straight wins.

NOT: TANGLED WEBER

Illinois's season—5--9 in the Big Ten, five straight L's—reached train-wreck status with coach Bruce Weber's postgame rant after a loss to Purdue and a 23-point trouncing by lowly Nebraska, which tied for the worst defeat of Weber's tenure.

HOT: TWINS PEAK

Henrik and Daniel Sedin are one-two in points in the West—64 and 61, respectively—and tallied four each in the Canucks' 6--2 win over Toronto last Saturday. The brothers' combined 86 assists are tops in the NHL for any pair of teammates.
