Bruins center Patrice Bergeron should easily win this season's Selke Trophy, which is awarded annually to the NHL's top defensive forward. In addition to a league-high +32 rating, he is the best face-off man in the game and a shutdown defender. He is also widely regarded by his peers as the toughest forward to play against in the Eastern Conference.... After a disastrous start to the season, the Sabres are making a valiant playoff push. Since the trade deadline on Feb. 27, Buffalo (37-29-10) has gone 10-2-2, second best in the NHL. The turnaround began after productive center Paul Gaustad was dealt to Nashville for a first-round pick, a move that—while it upset many in the dressing room, including star goalie Ryan Miller, a close friend of Gaustad's—seems to have sharpened the club's focus. Miller has gone 10-1-2 with a .941 save percentage since the deadline.
