Freshman QB, Texas A&M

The Heisman winner brought his special year to a fitting end: a Cotton Bowl--record 516 yards of total offense (including an FBS bowl record 229 rushing by a QB) in a 41--13 rout of Oklahoma.

DE'ANTHONY THOMAS

Soph. RB, Oregon

In last year's Rose Bowl, Thomas had 155 yards and two TDs on two rushes. In a 35--17 Fiesta Bowl win over Kansas State, he took the opening kickoff 94 yards, gained 195 total yards and scored twice.

ALEX OKAFOR

Senior DE, Texas

Oregon State led 27--17 after three quarters, but the Longhorns, led by Okafor (eight tackles and an Alamo Bowl--record 4½ sacks), allowed minus-four yards in the fourth to prevail 31--27.
