Bethany, a sophomore at Diamond Bar High, shot a 10-under-par 206 over 54 holes to win the Annika Invitational at Reunion Resort in Orlando by three strokes. She was the first golfer in event history to be in the red by double digits. In November, Bethany shot a three-under 69 to win the 2012 CIF Southern Section individual championship and led the Brahmas to a second-place finish in the state team tournament. She is ranked second among junior girls in the AJGA rankings.
DEDERICK LEE
CLARKSVILLE, ARK. > BASKETBALL
Dederick, a 6' 2" senior guard at Clarksville High, had a season-high 29 points in a 75--69 win over Harrison High to become the third player in Arkansas high school history to surpass the 2,500-point milestone. Last season he helped Clarksville repeat as the state 4A champion. Now competing in Class 5A, the Panthers were 16--3 at week's end, and Dederick was scoring 17.9 points per game and has 2,559 career points. He will play for Oral Roberts next season.
ERIN O'NEIL
MINNETONKA, MINN. > ICE HOCKEY
Erin, a junior goaltender at Hopkins High, made 45 saves in a 3--1 win over the top-ranked team in Class AA, Minnetonka High, which outshot the Royals 46--8. Among Minnesota goalies with at least 1,000 minutes between the posts through Sunday, she was fourth with both a 1.70 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. Erin, who has helped Hopkins to a 16-6-2 start, has had six shutouts this season. She is also the two-year starting catcher on the softball team.
