The Tulsa Shock will be known as the Dallas Wings when the franchise relocates to Dallas next season, the team's ownership announced at a press conference on Monday.

The Wings will play their home games for the 2016 season at the College Park Center, located on the campus of University of Texas at Arlington.

The Shock’s relocation was officially approved by WNBA owners in July. Dallas marks the third location for the franchise, as it called Detroit home through the 2009 season.

On Monday, the team revealed the new team name and logo. Team members Skylar Diggins and Odyssey Sims as well as head coach Fred Williams all attended the announcement.

“We are thrilled to bring the WNBA to the DFW Metroplex, home to some of the most passionate basketball fans in the world,” NBA Deputy Commissioner & Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum said. “As we prepare for our historic twentieth season, this is a very exciting time for the league and its teams, and we are pleased that the Dallas Wings will be part of the celebration.”

The Shock won three WNBA championships while in Detroit. The team finished 18–16 this season and fell to the Phoenix Mercury in the playoffs.
