Caitlin Clark Makes Surprising Admission About On-Court Logo in Honor of Record Shot
Iowa guard Caitlin Clark became the NCAA Division I women’s basketball career leading scoring leader on Feb. 15 when she drilled a deep three-pointer in a win over Michigan. To honor her, the Hawkeyes placed a decal with her name and jersey number on the spot where she hit the record-breaking shot on the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and revealed the commemoration Sunday.
But after her team’s 101–85 win over visiting Illinois, Clark made a surprising admission about the inscription on the court.
“It seems a bit further back than where I actually shot it from, but that’s where they claim I shot it from,” Clark told reporters after recording a triple-double with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. “But it’s super special. That’s something I’ll always remember.”
Clark, one of the most decorated college basketball players ever, is in the midst of her senior year with No. 4 Iowa (24–4, 13–3 Big Ten) and is currently averaging 32.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game.
The Hawkeyes travel to Minnesota (15–12, 5–11) for their penultimate game of the regular season, with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m. ET Wednesday.
