Miami Heat guard Ray Allen is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and says that it will depend on how his body feels in deciding on if he retires after 18 seasons.
The decision to retire could be coming sooner than later with the Heat down three games to one to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals after being blown out 107-86 in Game 4.

And while it appears he has plenty left in his finely tuned body, the guard said retirement is an option. He would likely receive his share of offers this summer.
“I guess everything [is factored into the decision],” Allen said. “You get away from it, you sit down and get an opportunity to think about it. It depends on how my body feels. I love the condition I’ve been in over the last couple of years. It’s just a natural progression.” in the postseason, which is along the lines of his regular season statistics.
Allen, 38, is averaging 9.5 points and shooting 39 percent from the three-point line in the postseason, which are comparable to his regular season statistics.
“I don’t look at this as an age thing for me, it’s never been an age thing,” Allen said. “I always laugh because I see the birthdates of the some of the younger guys. They’re born in the ’90s. In the ’90s! I was kicking it hard in the ’90s."
