Marquette Golden Eagles Star Goes Off In Tough Loss To St. John's

The Marquette Golden Eagles had a phenomenal opportunity to prove they're still one of the top teams in the Big East as they took on the St. John's Red Storm on Saturday afternoon.
Marquette kept the game close against the AP's sixth-ranked team in the nation, but a buzzer-beat floater from St. John's ended the game in overtime.
It was a tough loss for Marquette, especially since it was senior night.
But as difficult as this loss is to swallow, it's still important for Marquette to find some positives to take into the conference tournament and, eventually, the field of 68.
One of those bright spots was easily Kam Jones, who put together arguably his best performance of the season on Saturday.
The guard finished tied a season-high with 32 points while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from behind the arc. He also grabbed nine rebounds and seven assists in 44 minutes.
Jones was also especially huge down the stretch in helping the Golden Eagles send the game to overtime.

No, Marquette didn't come out on top in this matchup. However, watching Jones take over the game is still a great sign for the Golden Eagles as they get ready for the Big East tournament.
Their star guard is peaking at the right time for Marquette to make some noise and make a deep run this March.
Jones and the Golden Eagles will start their quest for a Big East crown on Thursday, March 13, with their matchup against Xavier.
