Insider Reveals Crushing News on Fresno State's Paul George

Things have not exactly gone according to plan for former Fresno State Bulldogs star Paul George during the 2024-25 NBA campaign
George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers over the summer, teaming up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to form what many considered to be a legitimate threat to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
Instead, the 76ers are just 21-39 and have never resembled legitimate contenders at any point of the year, and Embiid has been shut down for the season due to a knee injury after playing in just 19 games. And you know? George may follow.
ESPN's Tim Bontemps has revealed that Philadelphia is weighing the possibility of shutting down George, who who began the season on the shelf with a knee issue and has been mired in what has been the most trying year of his professional tenure.
The Sixers have a top-six protected pick in this year's NBA Draft, so it would actually make sense for the 76ers to sit George the rest of the way, especially with Embiid sidelined.
George is averaging 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists over 32.6 minutes per game on 43.3/36.3/81.4 shooting splits this season.
The 34-year-old spent two years at Fresno State between the 2008-09 and 2009-10 campaigns, posting 15.5 points and 6.7 boards a night. He was then selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 10th overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft.
George has since gone on to earn nine All-Star appearances, but has been widely criticized for his inability to get over the hump in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Fresno State is just 5-24 this season and has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2016, representing the Bulldogs' lone trip to the Big Dance since 2002.
