Stephen Curry To Take On Historic New Role At Davidson

NCAA sports continue to change by the day as programs continue to navigate this still-new NIL era.
Universities continue looking for unique ways to attract talent to their campuses, and one A-10 school is bringing back one of its most well-known alumni to take on a historic new role at the college.
Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar and Davidson alumnus, has accepted a position as the program's assistant general manager.
ESPN's Shame Charania initially broke the news and also provided some insight into what Curry will be doing in this new position.
Charania said, "This is essentially an advisory role to provide mentorship and guidance to male and female athletes at Davidson College, specifically the basketball program."
The current Warriors guar also made professional sports history by accepting this position.
Charania pointed out that Curry is "the first active player in a US major sport to take and administrative role with an NCAA team."
Along with his assistance to the athletic and basketball programs, Charania also mentioned that Curry and his wife Ayesha "are also starting an eight-figure fund for the university's programs."
Curry played three collegiate seasons at Davidson before entering into the draft.
Over those three years, he averaged 25.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists a game while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 41 percent from behind the arc.
Curry's 2,635 points over that timeframe are also the most in program history.
Now, the future hall of famer has the opportunity to mentor the next generation of Davidson athletes.
