Russell Wilson Passes Patrick Mahomes as New Favorite to Win NFL MVP

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no longer the favorite to win the 2019 NFL MVP award after the Seahawks' Russell Wilson moved ahead of him in the race, per the odds at Caesars Sportsbook.
Wilson sits slightly ahead at +200 odds, while Mahomes moved down to second on the list at +250. Other top players vying for the honor include Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson (+400), Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (10-1), Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12-1) and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (14-1).
Wilson moved up after Seattle beat Cleveland 32–28 and went 23-for-33 with 295 passing yards and two touchdowns. Through six games this season, he's completed 72.5% of his passes, which tops his career-high completion percentage of 68.1% in 2015.
Mahomes opened the 2019 season as the early favorite to take home the award for a second consecutive year, and Wilson was ranked eighth on Caesars' MVP odds in June. The Chiefs signal-caller beat out Drew Brees for the 2018 NFL MVP in his first season as a starter after sitting behind Alex Smith during his rookie season. Mahomes became just the second player in NFL history to throw for 5,000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns last season, joining Peyton Manning.
