NBA Best Bets: Spurs Have Value as Small Home Favorite

The Celtics haven't lost since their season opener, but now have to travel to San Antonio. Can they cover as a road underdog against the Spurs?

After a great start to the week, we have hit a cold spell. We could have taken the weekend off, but we are back at it for Saturday night. There is only a five-game NBA slate tonight and that's cool, most of your bankroll is tied up in college football anyway. Here are three best bets for tonight and a couple of player prop bet leans.

Boston Celtics vs San Antonio Spurs: Spurs -1.5, Spurs -125

The Celtics will be looking to win their seventh game in a row tonight in San Antonio vs. the Spurs, as the Celtics’ last loss was opening night vs. Philadelphia. The Spurs have looked good to start the season. But while they are 5-3 straight up, they’re a dismal 2-6 against the spread. This game opened up as a pick'em. While six out of 10 tickets on this game favor the Celtics, the spread moved to the Spurs being 1.5-point favorites. Sharp money is coming in on the Spurs even with the Celtics streaking, as Boston is playing its third game of a three-game road trip. San Antonio is 4-1 at home on the season, and I expect them to get the Spurs to get their fifth home victory this evening. If you are not comfortable laying the 1.5 points, the moneyline is also a good option at -125 or better.

Houston Rockets vs. Chicago Bulls: Under 234 Points

This is an amazingly high total, as this total opened at 233.5 and shockingly was bet up to 235 before coming down to 234. People see the Rockets and immediately think up-tempo offense that takes tons of threes, which is true. Unfortunately, the other team in this game is the Bulls, who average 102 points per game at home. The Bulls have not played in a game with a total this high all season. The Rockets have played in six games this season with a total higher than 230, they have gone over twice in those six games. The under should cash easily in this contest.

Season Record: 11-12
