NBA Best Bets: Sixers in Perfect Spot to Rebound

The 76ers have lost three of their past four games, but can Philly bounce back at home against the Cavaliers?

The grind continues after a tough night on Monday. The Timberwolves and Pistons opened the game with a 67-point quarter, so our under was in jeopardy from early on in the game. Kristaps Porzingis played his worst game of the season, only scoring four points in the Mavericks’ 10-point loss. It's all part of the grind, so let's get back at it. Tonight's eight-game slate features a couple of marquee matchups out west, as Brooklyn takes on the Jazz in Utah and the new-look Suns host the Lakers. Let's get to our best bets followed by a few player prop bet leans.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Philadelphia 76ers: 76ers -10

These teams are going in different directions, at least it seems so on paper. The Cavaliers are looking to win their third straight road game tonight in Philadelphia, while the Sixers have lost three of their last four games. The Sixers struggled on their West Coast trip, losing three in a row. The Cavs, on the other hand, just beat up on the Knicks and the Wizards. Philadelphia is 3-0 straight up and 2-1 against the spread at home. This game opened up with the Sixers as 12-point favorites, but the public doesn't like Philly laying that big of a number, so it has been bet down to 10. I think Philadelphia feasts on the Cavs tonight.

Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat: Heat -8.5

It is a very rare occasion that I lay points in multiple games on a slate, but that's exactly what I'm doing tonight. Detroit has one win on the road this year and that was the first night of the season. Blake Griffin, who just returned last night, will sit out tonight—there’s no chance at the Pistons risking him on a back-to-back this early in the season. Derrick Rose will also be out for the Pistons. The Heat are 3-0 straight up and against the spread at home this season. Miami should make light work of the Pistons’ skeleton squad. Lay the lumber with the Heat.

New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls: Knicks +7

Yeah, I know, I'm backing the Knicks tonight. Pray for me. Both the Knicks and the Bulls come into tonight's matchup losing three out of their last four games. I'm old enough to remember when the Knicks and Bulls played in classic games. Earlier this season, the Knicks got one of their few victories on the season, beating Chicago 105-98 at Madison Square Garden. Controversy has hit the Knicks this week, as the front office may be laying the groundwork to fire head coach David Fizdale. Fizdale is not the Knicks’ problem, it's above him. I think the team responds and plays well for him tonight. I would take the points with the Knicks and drip on the moneyline.
