2024 PGA Championship Picks, Predictions and Odds (Can Rory McIlroy Snap Major Drought?)
It's time for the golf world to turn its attention to the second major of the season, the PGA Championship.
This year, it will be hosted at Valhalla Golf Club, which last held the event in 2014. That also happens to be the site of Rory McIlroy's last major victory. All of that is shaping up for what should be an electric tournament as McIlroy, fresh off two straight wins, has his eyes set on breaking his 10-year winless drought at majors.
To do it, he'll have to get past the Masters champion and No. 1-ranked golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, who will tee it up in Kentucky this week after the recent birth of his first child.
Let's dive into everything you need to know to bet on the 2024 PGA Championship, including the top 15 odds to win and my three best bets.

PGA Championship notable golfers
Scottie Scheffler: The No. 1-ranked golfer in the world will return to action after the birth of his first child. He has won four of his last five starts including the Players Championship and the Masters. His only non-win in that stretch was a runner-up finish in Houston where he missed a short putt on the 72nd hole that would've forced a playoff. Can he keep the dream of a Grand Slam alive?
Rory McIlroy: All eyes will be on Rory McIlroy this week. He's coming off back-to-back wins at the Zurich Classic and the Wells Fargo Championship and now he returns to the site of his last major win at the 2014 PGA Championship. Will he finally snap his major drought this week?
PGA Championship Best Bets
Xander Schauffele +1400
I'm reluctantly once again going to bet on Xander Schauffele, despite the amount of heartbreak he has caused me over the years, especially at major championships. If you're smart, unlike me, you'd stick to betting on him to finish in the top 5 or top 10. Instead of following my own advice, I'm going to bet on him to win his first major this week.
He's been playing arguably the best golf of his career this season, finishing in the top five three times in his last six starts along with a solo eighth finish at the Masters. He led the field last week in strokes-gained approach so if he can dial in his short game, he's going to be in contention here Sunday.
Dustin Johnson +7000
Xander is going to be my sole bet near the top of the odds board. The other two bets I'm going to place are on golfers who I think hold value at their current price. The first of which is Dustin Johnson, who's available at FanDuel at 70-1.
Johnson's game, in theory, fits Valhalla perfectly. He has the distance to compete and when his iron game is dialed in, he's one of the best golfers on the planet. A seventh-place finish at LIV Singapore is a good sign that he's starting to play some good golf ahead of the second major of the year.
There's plenty of value on him this week at +7000.
Alex Noren +15000
If you want to bet on a golfer at north of 100-1 odds, it has to be Alex Noren. Despite not yet securing a victory in 2024, he has been playing some fantastic golf, finishing T24 or better in seven straight events, including a solo third at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
He ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in strokes-gained total this season while also leading all golfers in scrambling percentage, which is going to be a huge asset at Valhalla, which boasts some of the smallest greens these golfers will play on this year.
At 150/1, the Swede is certainly worth a sprinkle.
