When the NBA hit the pause button on their season at the onset of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the Clippers were the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and five games behind the Lakers for the top seed. With the league set to resume their season at the end of July, sports gamblers can now place bets on which team will win the Championship and Eastern/Western Conference.

While the LeBron James and the Lakers have the best odds at +165 to win the West, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers have the second best odds at +190. Is this a bet gamblers should invest in? Sports Illustrated’s NBA gambling analyst Corey Parson and AllClippers editor Farbod Esnaashari answer that question in the above video.

Kaitlin O'Toole: The NBA's futures betting market is back. We are breaking down the L.A. Clippers. Joining me now from AllClippers is Farbod Esnaashari and SI's fantasy and gambling analyst Corey Parson. Farbod, does Doc Rivers have the Clippers prepared to have a run in the West?

Farbod Esnaashari: It seems like they've done as much as humanly possible from giving every single person on the roster their own home gym to making sure that they've had all the Zoom conferences for every single player. I mean, when you hear about what they did compared to some of the other teams, I remember Austin Rivers said it himself when he was talking to Doc, he said, we didn't do anything like this. And you guys are definitely ahead of the curve right now.

Kaitlin O'Toole: All right, so they're ahead of the curve, Corey, but what does that mean for the odds? How far do you think they can go in the West?

Corey Parson: Well, right now, they are +190 to win the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Lakers, their cross town rivals, being the favorite at +160. Now, it's going to be a very tough series, and I think it's what we do come down to in the Western Conference. Look at Kawhi Leonard and Paul George the way they play that perimeter defense. What's going to be very important in this time is coaching. Doc Rivers has done an excellent job at that. It is going to come down to a game seven between these two teams. I'll take the +190 with the Clippers.
