Floyd Mayweather took away Miguel Cotto's 154-pound title with a unanimous decision Saturday night in Las Vegas.

The decision was roundly booed by the crowd at the MGM Grand arena, which cheered wildly every time Cotto landed a punch.

Two judges scored it 117-111 and the third 118-110 in favor of Mayweather.

Mayweather improved to 43-0 with the win. Cotto is now 37-3.

Cotto fought until the final bell and bloodied Mayweather's nose earlier in the bout.

The 12-round bout with Cotto was one of Mayweather's toughest ever.

At one point during the fight, Mayweather did a little showboating -- shaking his head at Cotto and smiling.

Mayweather used his quickness and accuracy throughout the bout.

Cotto pressed the action in several rounds.

"He's a tough competitor," Mayweather said after the fight. "He came to fight, he didn't just come to survive. I dug down and fought him back."

Mayweather added another belt to his collection.
