Andre Berto begins war of words with Floyd Mayweather
Andre Berto, who isn't scheduled to box Floyd Mayweather for over a month, is already showing he won't be pulling any punches against his next opponent.
In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Berto offered up some choice words for Mayweather.
“I’m coming to kick Floyd’s ass on September 12,” Berto said. “Best believe that I plan to bring it to Floyd and I’m not concerned about what 48 other fighters have been unable to do. Somebody is getting knocked out and it won’t be me. You don’t want to miss this.”
Berto's comment about 48 fighters is a reference to Mayweather's perfect 48-0 record in the ring. In his last fight, Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao in a highly anticipated bout.
Berto is a much less heralded fighter than Pacquiao. He is 3-3 in his last six fights, leading some to question whether Mayweather picked the right opponent for what could be his last fight.
