Gennadiy Golovkin Earns Fourth-Round KO of Steve Rolls: Analysis, Highlights, Results
Gennadiy GolovkinΒ took on the previously-undefeated Steve Rolls on Saturday in Madison Square Garden in Golovkin's debut on DAZN.
GGG (39-1-1, 34 KOs) was in his first match since his stunning defeat to Canelo Alvarez in September. The former middleweight champion was coming off one of the longest layoffs of his career as it was about nine months since the last time he was in the ring. A strong showing against the less experienced Rolls could be exactly what Golovkin needs to set up a third match with Alvarez, which potentially could happen this September.
In the other corner was Rolls (19-1, 10 KOs), looking for what would have undoubtedly been the biggest win of his pro career. Despite having significantly fewer fights under his belt than his opponent, the 35-year-old Rolls is only two years younger than Golovkin.
Look back at what happened in the bout between Golovkin and Rolls as well as the undercards of the night.

Golovkin vs. Rolls (164-pound catchweight)
First Round
Very close round as both fighters came in aggressive and looked to establish their own tempo. I'll give it to Golovkin but it could have gone either way.
Golovkin wins round one 10-9.
Second Round
Rolls held his own as much as he could and landed a few solid shots, but Golovkin kept up the pressure consistently and had him moving. Another close round, but thanks to the better power shots, Rolls took this round.
Rolls wins round two 10-9. Fight is tied 19-19.
Third Round
Another close round as these two continue to feel each other. Golovkin had Rolls on his heels a fair amount and was able to avoid taking as many major shots as he did in the second.
Golovkin wins round 10-9. Golovkin leads fight 29-28.
Fourth Round
Golovkin put his foot on the gas and dominated the round en route to a knockout victory.
