Jake Paul Promises Knockout in Nate Diaz Match: ‘He’s Going to Sleep’
Boxing is a relatively recent pastime for YouTuber star Jake Paul—an activity he took up five years ago that has evolved into an essential part of his polarizing public image.
Fortunately for Paul, his next opponent, ex-UFC fighter Nate Diaz,ˆis a newcomer to the sport. Diaz’s lack of experience has led Paul to boldly guarantee victory in their 10-round professional bout on Aug. 5 in Dallas—Diaz’s first in the sport.
“I’m going to let my actions do the talking,” Paul said in an interview with TMZ. “When he gets in there with me, and he sees my speed, my power, my skill, and he can’t hit me, that is going to frustrate him … There’s a difference between UFC champion and a boxer, a very skilled boxer in myself. My fists are going to do all the talking.”
Paul is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury by split decision in Saudi Arabia on Feb. 26, the first of his career. However, he asserted that he would use the loss as fuel against Diaz.
"He’s going to have to pay for all this hard work, all the sacrifice I’ve made during this camp," Paul said. "I promise, I’m going to be the first person to stop him on Aug. 5. 100 percent, he’s going to sleep."
