Terence Crawford Makes Boxing History With 9th-Round TKO vs. Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford cruised to victory against Errol Spence on Saturday to become the undisputed welterweight champion

Terence Crawford made it look easy as he disposed of Errol Spence Jr. during Saturday’s welterweight title fight in Las Vegas. 

Despite Spence entering the fray without having ever been knocked down or knocked out in his professional career, “Bud” Crawford managed to record three knockdowns, including two in the seventh round, and ended things in the ninth round after a stoppage from the referee.

With his win, Crawford becomes the first male boxer ever to win undisputed titles in two different weight divisions during the four-belt era. 

The fight was officially stopped by referee Harvey Dock with around 2:32 remaining in the ninth round. By then it was clear that Crawford was massively ahead of Spence on all scorecards, having out-landed his opponent 185 to 96.

Crawford relied on devastating counter attacks as the fight progressed, landing major shots to the head of Spence. It was much of the same during his winning combination, as he blocked a left hook from Spence and retaliated with a far more successful combo of his own, resulting in a stoppage.

Crawford improves to 40–0 (31 KOs) in his boxing career and is now the owner of all four 147-pound championship belts; the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO.
