Mikaela Mayer Tests Positive Coronavirus and Will Miss Return Bout Against Helen Joseph

Mayer announced in an Instagram post on Sunday that she has tested positive for COVID-19

Mayer, who is currently 12-0, announced Sunday via Instagram saying she tested positive for coronavirus two days before her return bout against Helen Joseph. "I was really looking forward to bringing back boxing for all of you and I’m disappointed for myself, my team, my supporters and for my opponent, Helen Joseph, who worked just as hard to be here this week and put on a show for everyone." Mayer said in the post.

Mikaela Mayer will not be fighting in Tuesday’s Top Rank match against Helen Joseph after testing positive for Coronavirus. The Junior Lightweight contender announced her positive test Sunday on social media, saying it came as a complete surprise, adding “I am currently asymptomatic and am quarantining at an off-site location per recommended guidelines. The rest of my team tested negative and they are all in good health.”The fight is Las Vegas’ first major boxing card since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
