2024 CFL Mentorship Program Includes Seven Players
Something that isn’t talked about enough is when sports leagues work with players to develop them after their playing careers. This can come in many forms, but the CFL leads the way in getting their guys the training needed.
The league released information on Tuesday about the seven players who will be joining their mentorship program for the 2024 season, which is designed to help players prepare for league office roles by teaching them the business side of football. This is in association with the CFLPA Academy, which helps current and former athletes assist in career and personal development outside of football.
The following seven players are joining the program:
- OL Osaro Eromosele (Free Agent)
- LB Emmanuel Falola (Toronto Argonauts)
- DB Aaron Grymes (Free Agent)
- DB Scott Hutter (Edmonton Elks)
- OL Chris Kolankowski (Winnipeg Blue Bombers)
- P Richie Leone (Ottawa Redblacks)
- DL Jake Thomas (Winnipeg Blue Bombers)
“Lifelong learning is at the heart of improvement on and off the field” CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said in a statement Tuesday. “The Mentorship Program allows us at the league office to spend time with our players and gain their perspectives on all we’re building together and how we can further those efforts.
The new members of the program will join the league at its office from March 4-8 to shadow positions around the CFL. They will also visit the TSN studios to learn more about the behind-the-scenes of how they broadcast their shows. They will finish up on March 8, when they will assist with the CFL Invitational Combine.
This is the third year the league has participated in the program.
